“Streetz R Wachin” [ Starrla Interview ] #GODER

| March 9, 2012 | 0 Comments
GODERMAG.COM: Tell us what got you started in the music business?
STARRLA: I used to write poetry and honestly I turned my poetry into songs over time.  I realized how much I loved songwriting and I started writing songs for myself and other artists too.  I started by writing raps and then rap songs and now I mix rhymes with melody which is what I do now.  A little singing, a little rapping, a little English, a little Spanish and that’s me.
GODERMAG.COM: What’s in store for us, this 2012?
STARRLA: I have been a part of the group La Verdad for the last 6 years and this year I am dropping my solo project.  La Verdad is releasing a single called “Senorita” and the video will be out soon.  I am releasing my single called “Something Good” so I will be very busy promoting both!  That’s how I like it though.
GODERMAG.COM: What makes you unique from other artist?
STARRLA:  I have googled other female rappers and although I found some good ones none have my sound.  I mix hip-hop, pop and Latin together and it is my own unique style.  Other than Pit Bull there are no major Latin rappers on the scene right now or many female rappers for that matter.  I want to fill that gap.  I wish there were tons of girls out there doing their thing and hopefully one day I can bring some girls up with me.  I love girl power and I think there are a lot of girls who should have their day in the sun and I am one of them.
GODERMAG.COM: What you next single?
STARRLA: Like I mentioned before La Verdad is releasing “Senorita” and I am releasing “Something Good”.  I have another song you can hear on FB called “Champagne” which is also a single and I will probably shoot a video to that song pretty soon.
GODERMAG.COM: Who have you worked with?
STARRLA: As far as making music I work mostly with Cory Yothers from Harvest Product who produced my first two singles and has produced all of La Verdad’s music as well.  I have also had the amazing good fortune to have worked with Dr. Dre on a Bishop Lamont record.  I recorded a song with Abel Talamantes of Los Super Reyes formerly of the Kumbia Kings and recently I was featured on a song with Marva King who’s album is dropping now, first quarter 2012. I’ve worked with some members of Sonora Dinamita, Sinful, Mariachi Divas and I’m sure a few more.  It’s always a blessing to collaborate with talented people.  It’s always an opportunity to learn something.
GODERMAG.COM: Shout outs?
Shout out to La Verdad.  Producer Cory Yothers, Executive Producer Eduardo Xol, MVP Management, dope graphic artist and videographer Carlos Kessell, Thao Dipolito, choreographer and DJ Josh Blanaru and a host of people grinding to make this crack! …All my friends that support me everyday. And of course my FAMILY. Big shout out to Goder Magazine and if I forgot you I owe you an ice cream cone… CIAO!
